“I was first introduced to the music of Mark Linkous and Sparklehorse through my old friends in Camper Van Beethoven. I remember seeing a show at Satyricon once, with Jonathan Segel adding violin and such to Mark’s songs, and I loved it. Not much later I started getting emails from Mark out of the blue. I wish I still had those missives. He would ask me about recording concepts, and what working with Elliott Smith had been like. Many times he said he wanted to come to Portland and work together on some songs. Of course I told him I’d be more than happy to work with him. As an engineer and producer we get few chances to work with artists that truly blow our minds, or ones that we are already fans of, and I feel I have already been more than lucky to have worked with some of the amazingly talented folks that have come my way. But Mark Linkous was unique, as every musician who ever heard him understood immediately, and I always wish we’d got to hang out while making his songs come to life. I know it would have been very, very fun.” ~ Larry Crane
